Dietgirl at the DailySpark

The Dietgirl book is out in America today! And so begins my mission to spread the good word. I'll be linking to a number of interviews and goodies over the next couple of weeks, including multiple chances to win a copy of the book. But I'll also keep up with the usual everyday tales so you don't have to mutter "sellout!" over your morning coffee 🙂

Today there's a great review and interview on the DailySpark blog at SparkPeople. I've always liked the SparkPeople philosophy – small, realistic changes with no crazy stuff. It's a free site with a strong community and oodles of useful information. They'll also be giving away ten free copies of Dietgirl this Friday 2nd January, so if you're a Sparky person look out for that one.

Update: Here's the link for the SparkPeople/Dietgirl giveaway

USA! USA! USA!

  1. Good luck! I’m glad I have the UK edition, though. It’s so educational to see all the various weight systems you were able to keep in your pretty little head.

  2. Hi. I read your wonderful and inspirational story on SparkPeople.com

Congratulations on your success. Thank you for being so kind as to share your success with others. You have really inspired me today. I will buy your book!

Love the dietgirl transformation on the corner of the pages!

  4. My sister is just about finished reading this book and she just bought it on Saturday. She loves it–can’t wait to read it!!

  5. hello, hello everyone… special hi to the spark folks dropping by!

@suzi – please thank your sister for me, hehe 🙂

    @Bex – thanks foxy lass!

  6. Yay 🙂

I love Sparkpeople… just for the calorie counter alone! Love it… also it tracks your weight and measurements, and there is a recipe calculator there too. Awesome site.

Hey, is it just me, or is your site a complete blank slate with no graphics all of a sudden??

  7. Kia ora.

Just read your book the other day and have enjoyed passing on the love to others in my native land.

As I’ve been an avid reader of your online diary I enjoyed the parts about you and your man coming together best.

All in all a beautiful story.

Way to go Dietgirl and congratulations on your US book release.

May the readers there fall in love with you and your writing and may your teapot overflow with lots of lolly for that house you’re going to get.

  8. Hey!

Awesome, awesome, awesome. Well done, lovely DG, on conquering America. Hope everyone enjoys the book as much as we have.

    Big fat kiss.

  9. Shauna, after much dillydallying around I have finally bought your book. The last copy at Borders in Hornsby! Opportune time too – stuck in Medicare with over 40 people in front of me. Had something to read. From the first reading I know I am going to enjoy it and will find it hard to put down.

Happy New Years – today is stunning – hot and clear. Tonight should be magical. Hope you and yours have a good one.

  10. Excellent work, DG! Loved the interview – but uh…she took FIVE DAYS to read your book? Bwahaha! You know I finished it the same day it arrived in the mail. Pfft. Some people just have no commitment. Or maybe they have lives. Er…

Anyway, here’s to a Happy New Year for you and Dr G. I hope 2009 is even more exciting for you.

    XO

  11. Great review and very pleased to hear them refer to it as your “first” book. Can’t wait for the next ones.

  12. Shauna, it is great to read all those positive comments on the DailySpark website. You are changing the world girl! Best wishes for the new year and (hopefully a) new book!

  13. I found your blog from a review of your book in People Magazine (U.S) and I’m glad I did! I’ve been anxious for your book, and can’t wait to read it.

Thank you for being an inspiration!

  14. Congrat’s on the book release in the US! That is just fantastic! I’m sure you’ll be sitting on Oprah’s couch (or appearing via Skype) in no time at all!

  15. Hi Shauna – congratulations on making it in the USA! I asked for your book for Christmas, and my mother had a bloody hard job tracking it down. Loads of people said they had it in stock so she ordered it only to be let down. I think she finally found a supplier only 4 days before Christmas, but I’m so glad she did! I’ve had your book in my hand every spare minute I’ve had. You really are an inspiration and such a great writer too!

  16. Congratulations! But like others of your faithful followers, I’m glad I bought the UK edition (and sorry if the following sounds like a cliche, but so what?) as it really inspired me – not only to change my own eating/exercise habits but also to start and maintain a blog. (One important lesson I’ve learned about both blogs and weight loss: they’re easy to start, but hard to maintain!) Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS! and hope you get billions more fans in the U.S.!

  17. Hi Shauna! Thanks for stopping by and saying hi. Congrats on your book debuting in the US of A! Happy New Year! May it be a healthy and prosperous one full of love, laughter and all things good! 🙂

  18. I just finished reading your book here in the U.S., and found your writing to be not only very honest and open, but also very entertaining. I couldn’t put it down. Congrats on your success (in all areas of your life).

  19. I received my copy of your book just a few days ago — I had pre-ordered it from Amazon.com and was counting the days until the US release. 🙂

Shauna, your book is wonderful. I’m enjoying it very much and reading your story has reminded me to KEEP GOING, to not give up — on my weight loss goal or on any of my other goals. Heck, I’ve even decided to make a few more goals!

  20. Thanks for the give away – I just got a notice that I won a copy from SparkPeople and I am PUMPED to read up. 🙂 Thanks again!!
