  1. Just saw the segment – you looked fantastic, and sounded great too! Your Aussie accent is adorable, not at all the way you always describe it. I’m glad they showed the wedding pics, that was a nice point about living your life now and not waiting until you’re “perfect.” Maybe they will give you your own regular feature every week now.

  2. I just saw you on the Early Show and wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS!!! What a way to not only change your size, but change the way you think. I love the story about meeting your husband, and about enjoying the journey. You’re a wonderful inspiration!!! I’m going to check out the book now. 🙂

  3. Hi Shauna,
Just saw it! Awesome job. Loving the boots! I also love that picture with the rainbow in the rain! EVERYONE BUY THIS BOOK! You will be glad you did!

  4. That interview was just lovely Shauna! Your accent is so nice. You didn’t even look nervous 🙂

    Great job!

  5. I’ve been reading your blog for over a year now and I have read EVERY entry. I absolutely love it and I think you are so amazing and inspirational. I was so excited to see you on the Early show that I add goosebumps!

  6. Hi Shauna, I just saw you on the Early Show this morning and wanted to tell you what a great job you have done in losing weight. I have been trying to lose weight for 20yrs. now and I will get 50lbs off and put that back on and more. I have tried many diet plans and this seem to be the norm for me. Now I have Arthritis and Fibromyalia and I was wondering if their is any suggestion that you would have for me in losing weight. I am 54yrs old and a lot of medical problems.

    Thank you and God Bless
    Susan Jarvais

  7. wow, you look so great. i’m 19 and have been reading your blog for a while. great job on the interview, really. i can really relate to your feelings of feeling crappy, worthless which were at the beginning of your blog and i also struggle with my weight, b/c of stress, etc., thanks so much, you are so inspiring and by the way, you are pretty!

  8. You looked and sounded great in that interview! What a cute little Aussie accent you have. Sometimes you have a Scottish accent in my head. 🙂

Nice tall boots – I noticed those babies too!

  9. Hi Dietgirl/Shauna, I’ve nearly finished your book (which is brilliant) and thought I’d check out your website. Saw the Early Show snippet, you look great hun, well done, so chuffed for you. I’m trying to ‘get healthy’ at the moment, started thai boxing which is really good fun but its difficult fitting going to the gym, thai boxing and being healthy in gerneral when I’ve 2 kiddies at 2 and a half and 10 months. Although I’ve a relatively small amount to lose its hard being consistent and controlled. Any tips?

  10. Congrats, and nicely done!

One thing that struck me was that they seemed to “get it” regarding blogging as a potential tool to help with weight loss and developing a healthy lifestyle. Your interview might open that possibility for many people who weren’t aware of it (or had considered it) before.

  11. Ah Shauna Bravo! How lucky I feel to have been home and awake enough to see you today on the tele! I am one of your WNP readers of many years who was awestruck when you “came out” there. Discovering your mighty alter-ego Dietgirl was incredibly inspiring. Your good humor and determination to enjoy life at every stage, size, and style with such incredible good humor, honesty, and grace is a fantastic gift to your readers.

Best wishes to you and Dr. G and your sis Rhi and, of course, the Mothership who must be so thrilled for her daughter! Keep writing. And thank you for so many years of joyful reading.

  12. Great interview Shauna. You seemed self confident, even if you don’t think you were. You looked great too.

  13. Thanks very very very very very very much guys. Decided to stop being such a wuss and post the clip on the bloody page! Will catch up more soon, internet curfew beckons 🙂

  14. OOoo I loved the way she said “Shauna”… That was so cool, Shauna Reid, Author! Love it!

Well Done Shauna, you looked amazing! x

Ps… I’m watching it saying to myself “Ooo I know her”, as if you were my good friend 🙂 heehee! x

  15. Shauna,

It’s by coincidence that our names are almost the same. I am a professional blogger who I too am doing a fitness challenge on http://www.Transformation.com by Bill Phillips, who used to own & run The EAS sports nutrition supplement company. When I went to log into my video publisher account, I saw you pop up as the 1st result. I blogged on you, because you were not only an inspiration to me, but I am doing the same thing too now, in the war against losing unwanted weight. Please feel free tocomeby and read what I wrote and potentially comment. And, my Transformation.com profile is below:

Keep in touch dear (smile) 🙂

    With love,

    Shawn

  16. You did so well! I’m sure if I was in that situation I would be a complete mess, but you just oozed quiet confidence. I guess it’s time to start working on the sequel then… ;0)

  17. Hi! I was so excited to see/hear your interview today. I am in the middle of your book – which by the way was hard for me to get in a quick manner. All of the stores are sold out but, I did get the very last copy at a Barnes and Noble here after searching online. You should be honored that your book is sold out in a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri which is not large a place to begin with. Anyway, it was nice to see and hear you since you are helping me by allowing me share in your plight to lose weight and maintain it. I too have lost 1/2 my weight but I have gained back 50 lbs and feel awful. I totally changed my life too – tried new things, got the loose skin removed, met a great man and got married, changed my career after 10 years etc… I am trying to get back on track and thought that by reading your book and blog would help me – which it is already. Thank you for sharing your thoughts which are strangely similar to mine. I feel less crazy because now I know that others feel the same way as I but never would say it – not even in a weight loss support group. In fact, I actually cried during the beginning of your book because you decribed a very similar existence to mine and in fact I believe truely that our motherships must be related somehow. Although, mine STILL comments on my eating – no matter how old I am. Well, enough about that – thank you for your words Soul Sister. You are so talented. Have you thought of writing books, or a newspaper column etc… full time? Well, anyway I wrote an email to Oprah and think that you should be on her show. If you are please let me know and I will drive to Chicago and see you. You are an inspiration to me by sharing all of your ups and downs I am getting motivated to get back to my “normal weight self.”

    Thank you, Mandy

(I wanted to send you my before and after pics but couldn’t figure out how to on this comment post.)

  18. Shauna – Nice video & great interview. It’s so nice to hear your lovely voice. Well done!

  19. Hi Shauna–What a great interview!! I love what you said about enjoying the “journey”. So true 🙂
    Congrats!!

  20. HI DG! I am from Vermont (USA) and just finished your book…picked it up on a whim at the bookstore…and am so glad that I did!! I am setting out to drop some lbs and many of the emotional ‘issues’ you dealt with are similar to mine. You have conquered so much with a smile and great wit. I greatly admire you for your courage and perseverance and hope that I can do the same in my life. I have actually underlined portions of the book so that I can refer back to them when I feel the need!

Just prior to picking up your book, I started a blog with a few girlfriends — somewhat similar to what you have done. It is a wonderful way to write down your feelings without judgment in a warm encouraging environment. THANKS DG!! I also loved your boots on the Early Show!!

  21. G’day Shauna Marsh (Reid)
Congratulations on the interview. You didn’t sound nervous at all. I love your posh accent. “Yeah” was the only Aussie word I recognized! Ha!Ha!
    I’m so proud of you.
    Love from Dad.xx

  22. I saw your interview this morning and was inspired. I am going to read your site from start to finish. I am about the same weight you were when started and am you have given me confidence and hope that it can be done.

  23. ‘Knew you’d be famous one day! We’re proud of you.

    Lots of love,
    Dale, Paul, Tim and Sarah.

  24. That was so cool. You looked and sounded ace. Were those your Duo boots? My legs are still too podgy for mine but I’m working on that!

  25. Fantastic interview!!!I loved that the interview focused on the positives of your experience (not like that guy on Canberra radio!) You are looking even more fantastic than the last time I saw you and those boots are awesome! Congrat’s again 🙂

  26. Dude, so much for your Aussie accent… you’re so well modulated and almost… posh sounding!

Well done chickie – you sound great and look hawt. Your rack looked great – just in case you were worried that it may not have. Not so secretly gloating that my photo (courtesy of the Readers Gallery) was shown on American tele too…

    kisses

  28. I missed you on The Today Show yesterday but luckily you posted the link here….I’ve been following both of your blogs for a year or so and really enjoyed seeing your interview. I thought you did a great job! Hope you sell lots of books!

  29. Shauna you were great, truly an inspiration! Well worth those extra days in NYC, keep up the good work.

  30. Shauna, that was wonderful!
I had tears in my eyes as I was watching it. 🙂 Didn’t matter that I’ve been reading your blog and book for years now — seeing you on tv was super awesome.

    *sniff*

  31. You did a fantastic interview – good JOB girl! You look great and you should be so proud of yourself 🙂 I’ve been a long time reader – rare commenter and how FUN it was to see you and hear you talk!

  32. Just watched you via the blog. Fantastic interview, you did great. No wonder Dr. G fell in love with you, you’ve got a fantastic outlook and such a sunny smile! Inspirational!

  33. That is really pretty cool!

I’ve just finished the book for the 2nd time, and it’s amazing how differently I viewed it this time now that I’m on another journey to discover the “me” that I like, rather than the reflection in the mirror that I pretty much loathe!

I’m now off to scour tips on how to survive Edinburgh the “healthier” way! (Hubby is from Edinburgh and every trip we take “home” is filled with trips to the Deep Sea for chip suppers…… eeeks!!)

It’s refreshing to see that what seems impossible is infact acheivable when you set your mind to it!

  34. CONGRATS! It was lovely to see you and hear your voice on the CBS post. I read your book last week and it is truly inspiring. It will remain in my book collection always as a reference when times get daunting. Even though our weight loss goals are different, I could relate to *so many things* esp. howling after completing your first race ;-).

Again, my sincerest congrats and thanks for writing such an inspiring book!!!

  35. You look beautiful in the interview! I just got your book in the mail and can’t wait to start reading!

  36. Hey Shauna

The boots looked FABULOUS! You looked gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. So poised and elegant! America will have fallen in love with you (of course, the bloggers/readers already have!)

Well done. Hope your PR team was really proud. : )

    Big kiss. xxxxxxxxxxxx

  37. Shauna I just finished reading your wonderful book. You are such an inspiration and your interview on the Early Show was fabulous. You have got to get on Oprah. It was so cool to see the real live gorgeous Diet Girl on my old TV!!

  38. VERY COOL Shauna!! I was like a star-struck tween watching the Jonas Brothers on TV…it’s great to finally “hear” and “see” you after faithfully following your blog for years. I just finished your book (which I LOVED) and this interview seemed to bring it all full-circle. Kudos!

  39. Love the boots! They look fantastic . . . and so do. Congratulations on the book. I can’t wait to get my copy from Amazon. Unless it quits snowing long enough for me to get to a bookstore so I can forward an “on the shelf” picture to you.

I reached your blog through a mention on a Weight Watchers message board. So glad I did! I’ve spent the last several evenings reading the archives and I’m inspired. I’m actually looking forward to my weigh in at WW tomorrow . . . and (cross my fingers and toes) I’ll have reached Lifetime member status. 6 weeks of maintenance under my (much smaller) belt.

Best wishes with all your endeavors. And here’s to getting your green belt. Thanks again for your candor, humor, and encouragement.

  40. Ugh! Why do I always ignore that “preview” button? I meant that the boots look great . . . and so do YOU!

  41. WooHoo – I’m 1 of 500,000 readers.

I hope you enjoyed your extra time in NY. You looked fantastic on the Early Show but I’m surprised they didn’t make you stand up and show off that smokin’ figure of yours.

Thanks for posting the video of your Early Show visit. I actually did get it on tape but the picture and sound were out of sync so it was great to watch it again here.

I hope your book is flying off the shelves and you make tons of money.

  42. Hon, you did so well…..def cute accent (and you’ve managed to avoid picking up an Edinburgh accent..go you)…being Edinburgh born and bred I heard myself on an answering machine the other day and OMG!!

You looked fab…am off to read your book again x

  43. Hi Shauna

You came across just fine, and you looked great! Wonderful profile and FAB BOOTS!!

    Philippa in Perth, Aus

  44. Yay!!! You were fabulous darling…very chic and I loved the sexy boots *growl*. You’d never know that you had the plague just days before. Now to get you you’re own Television show 🙂

    xo,
    -Bex

  45. Congrats on the US airtime, hope it boosts book sales.
Personally I reckon you still sound Aussie… just a few words here and there where you slip into UK pronounciation. Dare you to use the word “mate” and/or “bonza” at least once in your next interview.

  46. What a great interview! I especially appreciate the “enjoy the journey” part. So true… I have to find that inspiration, but I’ve already bought and devoured your book and it sure does help. I can’t believe I haven’t found your blog before, I just linked over from your Lynn’s Weigh interview, which is what prompted me to buy your book.

  47. You look and sound great! I don’t know why you were so nervous…you spoke clearly and I didn’t think you sounded like a robot at all.

  48. Shauna, holy crap. You are ridiculously lovely, which I knew. But still! So crazy to see you in action. And I have a crush on your voice.

  49. oh, SHAUNA!

you looked, and sounded, totally beautiful.

I am still struck by the fact that 8 years ago….as a pussycat fan…I had no idea about your alter ego.

    You’re just great.

  50. That was fab! Finally got round to watching it – well done!

And such good posture… Just watching you made me want to sit up straight. And buy cool boots.

  51. The video wouldn’t play at my work so I had to wait till I got home to watch it. Well done! That was such a good interview! You looked amazing and I’m so glad to see you were wearing boots! 🙂

    xxx

  52. OMG you are so adorable! What a great interview, Shauna. You look fantastically gorgeous. Fab outfit and oh the boots! To die for. Really, really well done. Very proud of you!!

  53. Wonderful Interview!! I just got my copy of your book the other day, and I can’t wait to read it!!!

    Such a inspiration!!!!

  54. OH MY GOD! Oh my god oh my god oh my god! I can’t even tell you how awesome that was!

To see you and hear you talk (in your gorgeous accent). Man, I’m so excited! You look stunning and sound so cooooool!

But I wanted to yell at that lady in the beginning (don’t know her name- from Australia and early morning American TV is a bit of a mystery)- I wanted to yell at her that so many people tuned in to get advice and inspiration and hilarious posts from you, not just to support you.

I’m on what would have to be at least the 6th reading (literally) of your book and it still makes me laugh and cry like a crazy person! Both because of how great and brave and cool you are and how beautifully and hysterically you write.

So Yay for Shauna! Thanks for being so awesome! I never thought I’d be so excited about seeing anyone on TV!

  55. Great job! You were charming and adorable. My two-year-old son was watching over my shoulder, and said, “Who dat?”

    “That’s Shauna,” I said.

When the segment was over, he looked at me and said solemnly, “I like Shauna.”

  56. isidri , how cute is your kid!? 🙂

Thank you very very very much for your kind comments folks… I’m just catching up after my weekend o’ snivelling xx

  57. What’ya talking about “great giant orange head”… you’re beautiful Shauna 🙂 Nice to hear that Aussie accent (with a tiny Scottish twang tainting it!). It looks looks like your book has hit the big time.. good on you!

  58. You did such a great job – so polished, like you have been doing TV interviews for years! I had never heard your voice before so it was a pleasure to hear your lovely accent. Congratulations!

  59. You are such a SWEETHEART! And an inspiration. I must say, you’re hope to those of us who find slow and steady unbearable.. proof that you can make it happen! I myself have troubles with the opposite, I’m trying to be healthy about my goals, and you’re definitely an inspiration with that.
