From the Land of Plenty
October 11, 2005
Greetings from Australia! Sorry for the lack of promised updates but I have been too busy eating everything I'd missed over the last 2.5 years. I hope you're all well and truckin' along nicely.
And a big hello to visitors from Australian Cosmopolitan. I didn't realise my article was running so soon! I better go get a copy. And one for my mother.
More when we get back to Scotland in a week or so. Take care!
I'm Shauna Reid, Scotland-dwelling Aussie

Sounds like you're having a terrific time. Congrats on the magazine article and have a safe journey home next week!!

hi, i read about your great adventure in Cosmo and have been enthralled by your archives ever since. just wanted to say how much i agree with so much of what you have said- i am having to deal with all sorts of body issue crap (i am a tennager after all) anyway, what you have written has bought me to my senses and i am now doing much better. just wanted to say thank you for putting your experiences on da net.

I was reading my Cosmo last night and there you were!!!! you are such an inspiration! well done :-) and I am with you about people getting dis-interested when you tell them how long it has taken, i get that too, but you know what as you said, it does then make it easier to keep off, maintenance is a lot easier and we get to enjoy life, enjoy food, our skin has time to retract and when it comes down to it, we are healthier & fitter everyday so who cares how long it takes!!! i love your perspective and your dedication, thank you for sharing your fantastic journey with us :-)

Bought this issue of Cosmo as soon as I landed back at Sydney airport from the USA...great time, great people, found the food a bit of a challenge...and as I whizzed past page 235 I thought I know that face. Great article. Really said it all about losing it.

hi, i read your article in cosmo.. and i think it is such an inspiration for people trying to lose weight or people unhappy with there body. I am one of those people and you helped me realise that there is more to life than just worrying about my image. Because if i dont stop later in life i will look back and regret what i missed out on! Your article helped me see that and i hope it touches other people like it did me. thankyou so much and god bless

hey!
I've been reading your other blog for about 6 months...I knew nothing of dietgirl! I rarely buy Cosmo but LOVELOVELOVE Scarlett Johansson so bought this months issue and there you were...I saw the URL for your blog and thought 'hey...that's not her blog??'...I had a look and read all of your archives in one sitting. What an incredible journey! You have come an incredibly long way and have inspired me to rejoin my gym after a 8 month hiatus! All the best reaching your goal weight - I know you'll get there! Oh...and the photo in Cosmo looks gorgeous - very flattering and the colour of your top looks beautiful with your skin and hair

The first place I went to buy it they were sold out! And then I bought the last copy at our small newstand at work. Very good article! And you look so happy in the photo. Was that the one you put in the other magazine article? I thought I recognized it. Anyway, you are such an inspiration.

I read your article in cosmo while at a friends place and it really inspired me I have been trying to lose weight for a couple of years and i am finally getting on track. There are the health reasons and then the superfical reasons, such as i want to look good for my formal. But reading the article about you inspired me even more then i was already. So thank you
