Greetings!
January 26, 2009
Hello! If you've found your way here from The Early Show, a very warm welcome. You can look inside my book The Amazing Adventures of Dietgirl right here, find out more about me and the blog here or check out my best entries.
You can watch the clip below if you fancy. My giant orange head is kinda freaking me out right now!

Just saw the segment - you looked fantastic, and sounded great too! Your Aussie accent is adorable, not at all the way you always describe it. I'm glad they showed the wedding pics, that was a nice point about living your life now and not waiting until you're "perfect." Maybe they will give you your own regular feature every week now.

Hi Shauna, I just saw you on the Early Show this morning and wanted to tell you what a great job you have done in losing weight. I have been trying to lose weight for 20yrs. now and I will get 50lbs off and put that back on and more. I have tried many diet plans and this seem to be the norm for me. Now I have Arthritis and Fibromyalia and I was wondering if their is any suggestion that you would have for me in losing weight. I am 54yrs old and a lot of medical problems.
Thank you and God Bless

wow, you look so great. i'm 19 and have been reading your blog for a while. great job on the interview, really. i can really relate to your feelings of feeling crappy, worthless which were at the beginning of your blog and i also struggle with my weight, b/c of stress, etc., thanks so much, you are so inspiring and by the way, you are pretty!

You looked and sounded great in that interview! What a cute little Aussie accent you have. Sometimes you have a Scottish accent in my head. :-)
Nice tall boots - I noticed those babies too!

Hi Dietgirl/Shauna, I've nearly finished your book (which is brilliant) and thought I'd check out your website. Saw the Early Show snippet, you look great hun, well done, so chuffed for you. I'm trying to 'get healthy' at the moment, started thai boxing which is really good fun but its difficult fitting going to the gym, thai boxing and being healthy in gerneral when I've 2 kiddies at 2 and a half and 10 months. Although I've a relatively small amount to lose its hard being consistent and controlled. Any tips?
12 · Posted by Joanne · January 26, 2009 at 08:51 PM
Congrats, and nicely done!
One thing that struck me was that they seemed to "get it" regarding blogging as a potential tool to help with weight loss and developing a healthy lifestyle. Your interview might open that possibility for many people who weren't aware of it (or had considered it) before.

Ah Shauna Bravo! How lucky I feel to have been home and awake enough to see you today on the tele! I am one of your WNP readers of many years who was awestruck when you "came out" there. Discovering your mighty alter-ego Dietgirl was incredibly inspiring. Your good humor and determination to enjoy life at every stage, size, and style with such incredible good humor, honesty, and grace is a fantastic gift to your readers.
Best wishes to you and Dr. G and your sis Rhi and, of course, the Mothership who must be so thrilled for her daughter! Keep writing. And thank you for so many years of joyful reading.

Shauna,
It's by coincidence that our names are almost the same. I am a professional blogger who I too am doing a fitness challenge on www.Transformation.com by Bill Phillips, who used to own & run The EAS sports nutrition supplement company. When I went to log into my video publisher account, I saw you pop up as the 1st result. I blogged on you, because you were not only an inspiration to me, but I am doing the same thing too now, in the war against losing unwanted weight. Please feel free tocomeby and read what I wrote and potentially comment. And, my Transformation.com profile is below:

You did so well! I'm sure if I was in that situation I would be a complete mess, but you just oozed quiet confidence. I guess it's time to start working on the sequel then... ;0)

Hi! I was so excited to see/hear your interview today. I am in the middle of your book - which by the way was hard for me to get in a quick manner. All of the stores are sold out but, I did get the very last copy at a Barnes and Noble here after searching online. You should be honored that your book is sold out in a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri which is not large a place to begin with. Anyway, it was nice to see and hear you since you are helping me by allowing me share in your plight to lose weight and maintain it. I too have lost 1/2 my weight but I have gained back 50 lbs and feel awful. I totally changed my life too - tried new things, got the loose skin removed, met a great man and got married, changed my career after 10 years etc... I am trying to get back on track and thought that by reading your book and blog would help me - which it is already. Thank you for sharing your thoughts which are strangely similar to mine. I feel less crazy because now I know that others feel the same way as I but never would say it - not even in a weight loss support group. In fact, I actually cried during the beginning of your book because you decribed a very similar existence to mine and in fact I believe truely that our motherships must be related somehow. Although, mine STILL comments on my eating - no matter how old I am. Well, enough about that - thank you for your words Soul Sister. You are so talented. Have you thought of writing books, or a newspaper column etc... full time? Well, anyway I wrote an email to Oprah and think that you should be on her show. If you are please let me know and I will drive to Chicago and see you. You are an inspiration to me by sharing all of your ups and downs I am getting motivated to get back to my "normal weight self."
Thank you, Mandy
(I wanted to send you my before and after pics but couldn't figure out how to on this comment post.)

HI DG! I am from Vermont (USA) and just finished your book...picked it up on a whim at the bookstore...and am so glad that I did!! I am setting out to drop some lbs and many of the emotional 'issues' you dealt with are similar to mine. You have conquered so much with a smile and great wit. I greatly admire you for your courage and perseverance and hope that I can do the same in my life. I have actually underlined portions of the book so that I can refer back to them when I feel the need!
Just prior to picking up your book, I started a blog with a few girlfriends -- somewhat similar to what you have done. It is a wonderful way to write down your feelings without judgment in a warm encouraging environment. THANKS DG!! I also loved your boots on the Early Show!!

That is really pretty cool!
I've just finished the book for the 2nd time, and it's amazing how differently I viewed it this time now that I'm on another journey to discover the "me" that I like, rather than the reflection in the mirror that I pretty much loathe!
I'm now off to scour tips on how to survive Edinburgh the "healthier" way! (Hubby is from Edinburgh and every trip we take "home" is filled with trips to the Deep Sea for chip suppers...... eeeks!!)
It's refreshing to see that what seems impossible is infact acheivable when you set your mind to it!

CONGRATS! It was lovely to see you and hear your voice on the CBS post. I read your book last week and it is truly inspiring. It will remain in my book collection always as a reference when times get daunting. Even though our weight loss goals are different, I could relate to *so many things* esp. howling after completing your first race ;-).
Again, my sincerest congrats and thanks for writing such an inspiring book!!!

VERY COOL Shauna!! I was like a star-struck tween watching the Jonas Brothers on TV...it's great to finally "hear" and "see" you after faithfully following your blog for years. I just finished your book (which I LOVED) and this interview seemed to bring it all full-circle. Kudos!

Love the boots! They look fantastic . . . and so do. Congratulations on the book. I can't wait to get my copy from Amazon. Unless it quits snowing long enough for me to get to a bookstore so I can forward an "on the shelf" picture to you.
I reached your blog through a mention on a Weight Watchers message board. So glad I did! I've spent the last several evenings reading the archives and I'm inspired. I'm actually looking forward to my weigh in at WW tomorrow . . . and (cross my fingers and toes) I'll have reached Lifetime member status. 6 weeks of maintenance under my (much smaller) belt.
Best wishes with all your endeavors. And here's to getting your green belt. Thanks again for your candor, humor, and encouragement.

WooHoo - I'm 1 of 500,000 readers.
I hope you enjoyed your extra time in NY. You looked fantastic on the Early Show but I'm surprised they didn't make you stand up and show off that smokin' figure of yours.
Thanks for posting the video of your Early Show visit. I actually did get it on tape but the picture and sound were out of sync so it was great to watch it again here.
I hope your book is flying off the shelves and you make tons of money.

Congrats on the US airtime, hope it boosts book sales.
Personally I reckon you still sound Aussie... just a few words here and there where you slip into UK pronounciation. Dare you to use the word "mate" and/or "bonza" at least once in your next interview.
65 · Posted by Jovey · January 29, 2009 at 01:31 PM
What a great interview! I especially appreciate the "enjoy the journey" part. So true... I have to find that inspiration, but I've already bought and devoured your book and it sure does help. I can't believe I haven't found your blog before, I just linked over from your Lynn's Weigh interview, which is what prompted me to buy your book.

OH MY GOD! Oh my god oh my god oh my god! I can't even tell you how awesome that was!
To see you and hear you talk (in your gorgeous accent). Man, I'm so excited! You look stunning and sound so cooooool!
But I wanted to yell at that lady in the beginning (don't know her name- from Australia and early morning American TV is a bit of a mystery)- I wanted to yell at her that so many people tuned in to get advice and inspiration and hilarious posts from you, not just to support you.
I'm on what would have to be at least the 6th reading (literally) of your book and it still makes me laugh and cry like a crazy person! Both because of how great and brave and cool you are and how beautifully and hysterically you write.
So Yay for Shauna! Thanks for being so awesome! I never thought I'd be so excited about seeing anyone on TV!
