An Interview with PastaQueen

It’s 8PM, the official hour on New Year’s Eve when you try to persuade yourself to go out in the rain to a party instead of PJs, bottle of port and crappy Year In Review programs.

To all those down South – way way down South – who are already in 2008: Happy New Year! To everyone else, party on and see you next year!

. . .

In book news: On Saturday I had a fireside chat with the famous Jennette Fulda, a.k.a. PastaQueen of Half of Me. Except there was no actual fire, just Instant Messenger and talk of writing books and weight loss. Nevertheless I had a rockin’ good time and PastaQueen asked fabulous questions. Check it out noo!

It was also kindly brought to my attention that you can order the goods from Amazon Canada. Which means cheaper postage for all you lovely North Americans, woohoo! Except for those who already ordered it from the UK, please don’t hit me!

  1. My copy of your lovely tome arrived this morning. I was frankly quite inappropriately excited. My two boys like the cover (the suggestion that I know, even in a virtual sense, a genuine superhero has earned me untold kudos in this household!) Can’t wait to get started (have promised myself I will finish The Portrait of a Lady first. But you are way ahead of such luminaries as Joseph Heller and Annie Proulx in my reading list! It’s about an hour and a half till midnight, so Happy New Year, whether you have plumped for party or PJs.

  2. Happy new year to you both, you’ll be an hour and a half into it now… wow 2008 already..
    heres to a brilliant one

  3. Happy New Year! I just got my book from Amazon.UK today…. postage cost more than the book. Hee hee hee! ‘Tis all good.

Man, but it’s a good read. I’m almost half done, and I can’t wait for the champagne to wear off so I can read more. Woohoo! Ya did good, DG.

  6. I just bought a little block of Green & Blacks organic maya something chocolate – and I bought it purely because I have heard you mention it so many times. I love it. It was my new years treat and sustinance to get me through the vomiting my 3 daughters are doing!! Happy New Year beautiful lady, you always have and always will inspire me.

  7. Got your boook yesterday at Waterstone’s at the East End (and it appeared to be the last one, so you should perhaps demand that they get some more?). I read it until about 2.30 am and then again when I woke up and have now finished it and it was great. Well done you. I laughed, so that I had to read bits out to the husband, and at the end I had a little weep.

Now I must go and make food. Healthy food. Well, apart from the bombe, which might feature meringue and cream as well as soft fruits. But it’s New Year. After today – no more!

    Many congratulations, you author, you.

  8. Woohoo, HNY everyone!

And thanks very much Isabelle! I was stalking the book at that very same branch yesterday so it’s a wonder I didn’t see you!

There were quite a few copies upstairs on the 3 for 2 table with all that diet-y books (including about 10,000 copies of that bloody P McKenna… AAAAAAARRRGH!!!)

  9. Hope your book is available on ebay soon (used or new), as I am only allowed to buy online if I use paypal πŸ˜›

    Happy New Year!!!

  10. Happy New Year Shauna!! Looking forward to finding your book in the shops downunder soon.

As for Pj’s at the gym lol!!

  11. I saw you in the Mail On Sunday! Not that I buy the MOS… but ace to see you in the You mag.

  12. I received your book from Amazon UK on the 31st… I started reading it this morning between laundry loads… great writing I must say! I hope one day to meet you, because you have helped me more than most of my friends (and all of my family)! Have a great New Year and I hope your next book is about living in Scotland!

  13. Hi Shauna, I’ve been reading your blog for quite some time but haven’t been brave enough to leave a comment heh. But I just wanted to let you know that as a Canadian gal seeing the link to Amazon Canada on this post made me so excited that I just had to leave a message. I’ve been looking forward to eventually reading your book but I was sort of biding my time until it would be available in markets other than the UK and Aus. So I’m ecstatic that it’s available here now – I can’t wait to receive it! I also want to let you know that your blog has meant a lot to me. I definitely relate to a lot of what you’ve gone through, so thank you for sharing yourself in this way. Take care, Angela.

  15. OMG!!!

Sorry for unrelated comment, but I just tried to go to WNP from work and got a massive DENIED message! Apparently, the department now filters you!!

    And the reason:

Access Denied (Specific code was content_filter_denied)

Your request was denied because of its content categorization: “Adult/Mature Content;Society/Daily Living;Humor/Jokes”

Oooh er! You’re a naughty girl, aren’t you!!

  16. Those magnificent pals from Caledonia House wish you a prosperous new year.(we’re dead chuffed with mentioned). The book is the talk of the building, even a few copies bought today. We shall have a Shauna celebratory cakes day

  17. Hi Shauna, I just got my copy of your book today! I live in Arkansas in the US and I had no troubles at all getting the book from the website. I’m so excited! I am only on page 22 and I have already laughed and cried. I will be digging out my highlighter tommorow! There are things that you say in your book that I really never want to forget. Thank you for being so open and real! Melissa
