Tuesday Morning Radio

Don't touch that dial! There will be non-pimping posts soon – such as New Years Goals, and how yesterday I got back on a bike for the first time in fourteen months and it sucked and I ran out of gears halfway up a hill and couldn't remember which lever would make the wheels go so I just pressed all of them at once and the chain flew off and I got into a huff and told Gareth to just bloody carry on without me and stormed off home.

But first I have to do a few things, namely twenty radio interviews on Tuesday morning with random stations in random American towns (and two in Ontario!). If you're up early and fancy tuning in, click the link below for the schedule!

Thank you again for your comments and emails, it really means a lot πŸ™‚

07:05-07:15 Norfolk, VA WXGM-FM

  1. I bought your book over the weekend and am starting it tonight. I can’t wait! My husband is from Edinburgh and has been here in Atlanta with me for 5 years. It’s such an amazing place. Best of luck with the book!

  2. Ooo! I hope I’m in one of those towns and able to hear it!! (I’m a truck driver, and don’t often get to know where I will be ahead of time.)

  3. I bought the book last Tuesday when I went on sale, I loved it. I finished it on Friday. It is amazing how many of the same thoughts I have had and still have on a daily basis.

  4. Yikes! For a minute I thought you had to actually GO TO all those places, which obviously would be a hell of a schedule! You’d definitely need super powers.

    I am one of the lucky few who received a pre-US-publication copy of the book, and I say this to all my fellow Americans: Run, don’t walk, to the nearest bookstore and get one!

  5. Way to go Shauna. This is such an exciting experience for you. And we all get to ride along with you. Now remember to speak slowly so that they understand your accent LOL

  6. @Margaret – I know! The more nervous I get the more Aussiefast I go. So “I know” would be “I knooooeeeeeeuuuuuuu!” πŸ˜›

    @Marla – Yer a star!

    @PA Gizmo – thank you very much πŸ™‚

    @Jac – Really? I’ve never met a real trucker before, that is hella cool!

    @PQ – DUDE I am crapping it… there’s barely a pee break in the schedule πŸ˜›

    @TinaTait – Edinburgh man! I hope you got him in a kilt for your wedding? Glad you enjoyed the book, cheers!

  7. You’re a rockstar! I’m so happy that your book is getting such great, widespread publicity. I think those angel wings will have it flying off the shelves.

    RE: the mocha? I felt relieved that I wouldn’t need to go back next week!

  8. If I had more than 13 readers I’d ask you for an interview too and put those cute wings on my page πŸ™‚ You must be so proud of yourself! BTW I run out of gears all the time, that sucks. The chain fkying off is why most bike shorts are black (so you can wipe your fingers crossly)

  9. I fully did the same thing on my bike and said the same to my man, but i fell off in front of mass on a sunday morning! How embarrassment!

  10. Morning folks! how’s it going?

    @Kek – Oi am who oi am, I carrnt change moi accent for nobody πŸ˜›

    @airlie – In front of MASS? omg you poor bastard πŸ™‚ see this is why i like this blogging lark – there’s always someone who’s done similar silly things so you never have to feel alone!

    @LBTEPA – I wish I thought of the shorts, i wiped my hands on a mossy fence and it hurt!

  11. Hey DG! Am a lurker on your blog, and have read your book, think you are fab πŸ™‚ πŸ˜‰

    I really wanted to listen to your radio interviews, but for reasons of being generally rubbish with time differences and such, got puzzled and decided to go another route….and guess what?!?!?! ……. *drum roll*…..

    I just found you on youtube!! Yay!!!!! And just had to say, I loved the clips I found, you are a superstar, keep up the good work!

    My journey starts again on Thursday……this time next year I will be a shadow of my former self……

  12. Sorry I just laughed at your bike exploits πŸ˜€

    (Hmm. You wouldn’t know I’d laughed, if I didn’t write this.) Oh well! It made me laugh and I can’t wait to read the full, entertaining details, and I hope you managed to get back on and ride!

  13. Good morrrrrrning Toronto! One down, 19 to go. Hope I don’t need to pee.

    @lardygirl – thanks v much, i love a delurker πŸ™‚ here’s to a kickass 2009 for you!

    @Gillian – you know i realised there’s not anything else to say about that bike story. i failed and slinked back home. hehehe. i may have to hire you for some lessons, i’m bloody hopeless!

  14. Talking of bikes (not that I do that much), I’m about to follow in your media star footsteps – I’m going to appear in Zest magazine! In a piece about nutty cyclists. I need to get my photos taken soon – help!

  15. That’s hella cool, I like Zest magazine! Give me a shout if you need someone to powder your nose or fetch you water when you gets your pics done πŸ™‚

  16. Congratulations Shauna – hope the launch goes well. I wish I had known about the Ontario station beforehand, I would have loved to listen to the interview. Any chance Dr. G. recorded any of these? I tried to buy your book with my Christmas gift certificate and the British version is now sold out at Chapters (good news for you, but not for me!). Guess I am going to have to find another way to get a copy. How much difference is there between the US version and the British? I love your changing accent and would hate to find that it has been edited out of the US version of the book….

  17. w00t! all done!

    howdy heather – there’s no different at all except in the spellings (colour becomes color, favour/favor etc etc) and they changed crisps to chips and stones/kilos in pounds πŸ™‚

  18. Your book came yesterday. OMIGOD!!! I just love it. I’ve managed to read half of it even with going to a basketball game last night that took up most of the evening, and having (rats!) to go to work today.

    I have to confess I thought it would be mostly your blog, but NO! If any of you readers think that, forget it! Buy the book! It’s so much more!

    Congratulations on a wonderful book. I hope you write more in the future. Well done.

  19. Your book arrived New Year’s Eve. I finished it last night. Would have been sooner if there were any way I could have gotten away with reading at work. Did you get the pics you wanted of the US version? It’s definitely here, and it’s terrific! How can you be across the globe yet inside my head at the same time?! Thank you for a great read and fantastic inspiration to live a healthier, happier life!

  20. “Rochester, NY WHAM-AM ”
    OMG OMG I can’t believe you’re gonna be on the radio in Rochester!! That’s my home town, so let me know as soon as you know when it’s going to air so I can get my Mom to tape it for me! (since i was a dunce and missed the NYC airing)

  21. My apologies! Because of our snow & ice storm this morning, we had to reschedule our chat with Shauna Reid about her new book “The Amazing Adventures of Dietgirl”. The interview will be aired at 8:10am ET on Thursday January 8th, 2009. You can hear the interview streamed online at http://www.959watd.com at that time! Enjoy.

  22. Why is there nothing listed for southern California? Do your publishers think that none of us are fans of the Lard Busting over here on the left coast? Must I write a Strongly Worded letter to someone???

  23. Hey Shauna, Just popped in while the wee one is asleep and got the info about your interviews and the fact you are on youtube. I saw both pieces and I love your scossie accent and you sound and look so professional! I admit i got a bit teary when you were talking about Dr G – how lovely!

    Cheers m’dear.
