Available to readers from: Worldwide

What the heck is it?
Soul Vision is a partner company of Cardio Coach. Here's what they have to say about life coaching:

Having a coach is like having a friend who is completely focused on your best interest as it relates to every aspect of your life. At Soul Vision, we support clients from around the world as they make the tough choices that bring about soul nourishing results.  Itโ€™s not easy living on purpose, but it is so worth it!

Why I dig it
I admit I'm a cynical person with a very strong wariness of anything with the word "soul" in it, unless it pertains to music from the 60s and 70s. I thought life coaching was a wee bit too froufrou unicorns and rainbows for me.

Then last year I purchased a Cardio Coach workout and they offered a free Soul Vision Life coaching session as a gift with purchase. I was feeling very down and lost at the time and thought, "Well it couldn't make me feel any bloody worse!".

So I had a Skype call with life coach Jeff Weber. He was very kind and patient. We talked over a questionnaire that he'd had me fill out beforehand, in which you have to rate various aspects of your life on a scale. I had high scores for relationships, but shockers for things like authenticity, career, personal growth, health, play and sense of direction. Soon my cynicism and resistance dissolved into floods of honking tears and I was very glad the Skype call had video disabled.

My Soul Vision session was so illuminating and I'm glad I had the nerve to try something out of my comfort zone. Along with a session I had with a UK life coach Rachel McGuinness (who was also wonderful), it was the catalyst for me getting counselling, as it made me see I needed to talk to someone about some serious stuff.

I think life coaching would be a good option to explore if you have the really deep-seated stuff in hand (a life coach is not a shrink) and you want an ally to help respark your lust for life and make changes to your career, personal life, health or whatnot. If you're looking for a real sounding board and cheerleader, or if you're someone who skips straight to Martha Beck's column when you get your O magazine, I reckon this prize might be your cup of tea.

There is one three-month Soul Vision life coaching package to be won. Simply leave a comment on this blog entry to enter. Entries close Monday 31 January 2011 at 12PM GMT. Winners will be drawn at random. Click here to view terms and conditions of the Sell Out.

  1. I just signed up for a “Get Focused” workshop, and I think that one-on-one chats with a coach might be a nice accompaniment. I do skip right to Martha Beck when I get “O,” doesn’t everyone?

  2. I would love some help trying to break through some old bad habits that I’d thought I’d conquered, but which have returned when the stress of a new job took over. Baby steps, I guess, baby steps…

  3. This prize is intriguing, it definitely sounds like something that would be good for me right now, but also intimidating.

  4. This is cool :o) Having had a severe depression last year I life coach might be the person I need to motivate me to tackle some things, like healthy eating and regular exercise (which my shrink doesnยดt). Thank you.

  5. I think we all need to read, listen, watch, and absorb all the information we can about this weight thing. Another person can always be helpful to us, especially someone with our best interests at heart.

  6. Life coaching helps to put life into perspective and give insight into the things in life that are shouting at you but you are just not hearing. So what I need right now!

  7. Lifecoaching is the one thing that is missing from my equation to get healthy. Put me in coach, I’m ready!

  8. Soul Vision – so they can, like, see into my, soul maaan…

Fingers crossed, I could do with some analysis.

  9. Well, considering that I make jokes about life coaches all the time, I think it would be great to put my skepticism to the test!

  10. Holy shamoly. I’m all about froufrou unicorns and rainbows!!! Couldn’t afford this on my own though, so fingers crossed…

  11. This sounds good – I already see a shrink but there’s a new and ugly quality to my depression which involves being directionless. Previously I was depressed because I hadn’t achieved what I wanted to achieve – now I don’t even have anything I want to achieve. You can see how having an outside review might be very handy.

  12. It does sound a little scary and out of the comfort zone – but worth it! I’d like to give it a try! ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. I’m throwing my virtual hat into the virtual ring… I reckon I could do with a cheerful cheerleader to “woo!” me on.

  14. Whilst this actually sounds a bit scary I think it would probably be an amazing thing to do. Please could I enter?

  15. Shauna,
I would consider this to be the gift of a lifetime. Life coaching is something I’ve always wanted to experience.

  16. Oh goodness – what amazing prize. Though I would have to download Skype if I was lucky enough to win. I really need a boot to bum about a lot in my life, so this would be amazing.

  17. Wow, this would be so out of my comfort zone and probably exactly what I need. Thanks Diet Girl.

  18. Mine mine mine mine mine…please?

Would really appreciate a chance to dust off a few ideas and get some motivation going. Fabulous idea Dietgirl.

  19. As much as I’m a cynic too, I could probably stand to step outside the box and do a session of something like this too. I hope I win!

  20. Great prize – also like the fact that they would be on the other side of the planet so they couldn’t come and literally kick my arse!

  21. I would LOVE to win this one!! Sounds daunting but I think this could be really amazing for me right now. Pick me, pick me pretty please!!

  22. I’d really love this – hoping 2011 will be the year I can shed some old neuroses (a bit like a snake with its skin – mmn yukky image sorry about that!) and get on with some living of life ………
