We are the champions

After both being bedridden with a horrible fever virusy thing earlier last week, this past weekend Gareth bravely cycled a total of 125 miles in constant driving winds and rain with our equally insane brave friends. And me? I bravely reorganised the food cupboard. It's hard to decide which feat was more noble!

Okay it isn't really hard to decide at all. But I feel an astounding sense of achievement all the same.

I don't know why there are so many jars of olives, either.

(I ran out of containers by the time I got to middle shelf of Side 2. The revolution will be containerised!)

  1. Wow, impressive – and Lakeland’s profits just went up measurably! Where did the olives go, though? They seem to have vanished.

  2. I really think the vegemite needs to go back to being at the front of its shelf. National pride and all. πŸ™‚

  3. @Gillian – I just got cheapies from Tesco #tightarse

    The olives are now in a neat row behind the pesto (right hand cupboard, bottom shelf, on the left)

    @Kira – lazybones confession, the Vegemite was actually empty (NOOOO! it was hell being crook last week without the healing power of Vegemite toast!) so the jar is now in the recycling bin!

    @Jen – they Tesco’s el cheapo version of Lock & Lock πŸ™‚

  4. Gosh, those pictures make my heart sing. I do love a bit of pantry re-organisation. It’s a bitch of a job, especially when you get half way through with half opened packets of pasta and flour explosions all over the counter and you want to just GTFU already.. so worth the perseverance. Do you need some more Vegemite stores? I’ve got a friend heading over in a couple of months, can load her up?

  5. @LaLa – YES you describe it perfectly! The open packets stage is very stressful. I ran out of containers before I got to the flour and I am ITCHING to go get more containers to restore order as soon as possible. Will need to wait to payday, bwahahaha!

    Thanks gazillions for the Vegemite offer but luckily you can get it at the supermarkets now πŸ™‚

    @SarahJane – Marmite is a dirty word in our house… hehe πŸ™‚

  6. OMG we are twins. I reorganised my pantry today!

    I had 3 jars of sundried tomato pesto. And 7 (unopened) boxes of cereal — the open ones are in a difference place.

    And a full garbage bag of out-of-date stuff.

  7. OH man… I really need to do this too. Opening my cupboard is a little bit life threatening. I kind of gave up on the idea while we were having aftershocks, but now we are having.. erm.. less of them, I really need to get some law and order in there.

  8. Nice! Can you come do mine now? I just spring cleaned mine out, but they don’t look half as organized!

    I need to dash out and get some tupperware now! πŸ™‚

  9. Very impressive. I cleaned out my fridge today. Pantry is next. I’m not sure which is better–below waist kitchen storage or above waist storage–seems if I have one, I prefer the other.

    I’ve been using 1/2 gallon mason jars for dry goods storage lately–cheap + homey. Do ya’ll have those over there?

  10. I was going to ask about the vanishing olives as well! Green olives are GREAT on a homemade veggie pizza if you are looking for ways to unload them πŸ™‚

  11. I’m not sure if I can organise my pantry in such a manner. I might find that I have too many packets of museli (untoasted), canned tomatoes/chick peas/red kidney beans as well as packets of dried peas. Something to aspire to perhaps!

    Love you xoxo

  12. You win. No doubt about it. Cycling schmicling πŸ˜‰ I need to follow your example. I have the cupbords from hell. Also closets from hell now I come to think of it. Hmmm…
