The prize: One lucky winner will receive a copy of The Beauty of Different
by Karen Walrond.
Available to readers from: Worldwide
What the heck is it?
The Beauty Of Different is authored by Karen Walrond, the fabulous photographer and writer behind the Chookooloonks blog.
Here's the synopsis from the back of the book:
Constantly bombarded with messages on how to think, how to feel, how to look, it can be very easy to fall into the mindset that we somehow fail as individuals, that we are not enough. But the truth is, those aspects of ourselves that make us individuals are actually the source of our own beauty, our super power.
The Beauty of Different explores beauty in eight fresh ways and challenges the reader to revel in her own uniqueness. Combining beautiful imagery, portraiture, insightful commentary, essays, and interviews, this multisensory exploration of what is really beautiful provokes deeper self-discovery. Designed to connect and inspire, The Beauty of Different encourages the reader to reframe her differences, not as shortcomings, but as characteristics of distinction–maybe even superpowers.
Why I dig it
I've not yet read Karen's book – my Amazon-ordered copy must still be bobbing across the seas with all the other delayed post from December's Snowpocalypse.
But I just know it is going to be a cracking read. I'm a longtime reader of her blog – it's one I turn to when feeling grumpy or uninspired. Her vibrant photography, boundless creativity, and calm, thoughtful words never fail to revive. I love reading about her travels, her relationship with her daughter and her quests to photograph 1,000 faces and taste 50 kinds of rum. Karen inspires me to do more, to create more and to appreciate the goodness in everyday life. I just know all that will shine through in printed form.
There is one copy of The Beauty of Different to be won. Simply leave a comment on this blog entry to enter.
